(Madrid, Spain) Zentyal, developer of easy IT solutions for small business, will held the annual Zentyal Summit in Zaragoza (Spain) on October 3 and 4. The event, that will take place in Etopia (Center for Arts & Technology of Milla Digital) will bring together current and potential Authorized Zentyal Partners, customers, community members, Zentyal Server users and distinguished figures from the field of open source software.

This international meeting will bring together more than 300 attendees from all over the world. Ignacio Correas, Zentyal CEO, will deliver one of the key talks entitled ‘2014 in review. Back to the Future’ during which he will discuss how the IT sector is in the middle of a historic moment in which small and medium businesses (SMBs), after a 25-year monopoly situation, are finally offered a real alternative to manage their IT infrastructure.

Other prominent speakers will also join Zentyal Summit, including Dan Shearer, Co-Founder of the Samba project. During his talk ‘After Cloud‘ he will address cloud computing related concerns – compliance, privacy, increasing complexity and energy consumption – and propose why peer-to-peer (P2P) technology might offer a viable solution to these problems. Moreover, Malcolm Bain, Partner at id law partners, law firms specializing in information technology and intellectual property and Fellow of the Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) will offer a presentation regarding the legal aspects of licensing open source software.

With the goal of illustrating the efforts, successes and failures in the history of the Spanish open source adoption, Manuel Velardo, Director of CENATIC, will speak on ‘The ups and downs of the Spanish open source wave’. In addition, representatives from leading open source software vendors will also join the stage: Andrew Cooper, Worldwide Channels Manager at Canonical, the company behind the Ubuntu Operative system and Luis Almeida, Regional Director of PaloSanto Solutions, developer of Elastix, the most popular open source unified communications server.

With a clear focus on the Authorized Zentyal Partners and IT providers interested in becoming partners, Zentyal will publish the latest news in this third edition of the Zentyal Summit. “Besides giving a chance to learn about the open source software trends, Zentyal Summit is shaping up as a meeting point between partners, customers, community members, Zentyal Server users and the Zentyal Team” said Ignacio Correas, CEO of Zentyal.

The Zentyal Summit 2013 slogan, ‘Keep calm and go hybrid’, is a wink at the IT channel partners who are concerned about the intent that leading manufacturers are making to fully replace local server infrastructure with cloud. Unlike these manufacturers, Zentyal offers a native Microsoft Active Directory replacement and advocates a hybrid solution that allows SMB customers maintain their local IT infrastructure and adopt cloud solutions according to their needs.

The preliminary program, published at Zentyal Summit website, includes a series of presentations and both technical and commercial workshops that aim at helping to understand the commercial Zentyal offering, how IT providers can build their own service offering based on Zentyal and how Zentyal helps its authorized partners to make their business grow.

Regarding the technical workshops, these will focus on the new 3.2 version of the Zentyal Linux Small Business Server, Zentyal Cloud and the new Zentyal release strategy, providing an overview of both technical features, new functionality and commercial aspects. Moreover, during the ‘Zentyal: Exchange Replacement’ talk attendees will have the opportunity to see the first official technology preview of the native Microsoft Exchange replacement that Zentyal will offer in 2013. All these products and services allow SMBs to upgrade to a more professional, easy-to-use and affordable IT infrastructure, without any migration costs or inconvenience to the users.

The Zentyal Summit 2013 is organized in collaboration with the Zaragoza City Hall and Local Government of Aragón and sponsored by PaloSanto Solutions and GlobbTV. The event will be broadcast on-line in real time. For additional information and registrations, please visit: http://summit.zentyal.com/
