Ignacio Correas, CEO of Zentyal, will take part in the round table What makes open source solutions to boost enterprise collaboration? that will be held on May 28 at 2pm. According to Correas, “open source solutions and collaboration go hand in hand. Now, the challenge is how to integrate the new open source solutions with already existing solutions and guarantee successful user experience in the migration process. The easier Linux adoption is for users, the easier it will be to make them leave the proprietary applications they are used to”, said Correas. The discussion will take place at Miro Room.

Moreover, the Solutions Linux attendees will have the chance to learn about Zentyal solutions at the shared stand with Objectif Libre (D26). On this stand, they can meet with Ignacio Correas, CEO of Zentyal, Julien Kerihuel, CTO of Zentyal and Objectif Libre staff, as well as to join the demonstrations hosted by the two companies. Specialized in open source software and focused on Linux infrastructure, Objectif Libre is a French company based in Toulouse and Authorized Zentyal Partner that provides IT consultancy, integration, development, training and support services.

In its 15º edition, Solutions Linux is an event aimed at companies, public administrations and developers, that emphasizes on the strategic role of open source at digital industry age to overcome vendor lock-in. In 2012, the fair hosted 179 expositors and 5.764 attendees.

The course is free of charge and will be held, in Spanish, by certified Zentyal staff, from the 3rd to the 20th of June. With a total duration of 48 hours in the afternoons -from 5pm to 9pm-, the course also includes a certification exam. All the interested parties can already apply on-line.

At the completion of this course, students will be able to understand the concepts behind computer network management and to manage perfectly small and medium sized businesses’ computer networks with Zentyal. • Understand the Zentyal server architecture.
• Deploy and manage all shared resources and communications services in SMB environment.
• Learn best practices for effective and safe network maintenance of a SMB server.
• Ease the migration of Windows servers to Linux.
• Prepare for the Zentyal Certified Associate (ZeCA) certification exam.

The maximum number of students accepted for each course is 15 and the students are selected based on their curriculum vitae and examination result. The access exam will be held the 23th of May.

During the event Javi Vázquez, Chief Operating Officer of Zentyal, will deliver a talk entitled “Zentyal Academy. Linux network management for SMEs“. On one hand, the talk will focus on presenting Zentyal server, an easy-to-use Linux server, that allows users to quickly achieve a high level of experience in Linux server administration and secure network management, without using command-line interface. On the other hand, Zentyal Academy program will be presented.

Zentyal Academy is a training program, compatible with the European curriculum, that introduces Linux-based network management tools integrated in Zentyal server in the official vocational training curriculum. The program is aimed at official vocational education centers with state-approved education offer, that are given special benefits and discounts to integrate Zentyal-based training in their training curriculum. Most recently, Kerihuel was the CTO of OpenChange Ltd. and the lead developer of the OpenChange project, that provides a portable open source implementation of Microsoft Exchange Server and Exchange protocols. Previously, Kerihuel was Project Manager and Information Security Professor at the Open Source Laboratory of EPITECH (L’Ecole de L’Innovation et de L’Expertise Informatique) in Paris, France.

Julien Kerihuel was born in Paris in 1981. He received a degree in Computer Engineering and Masters in Information Technology from EPITECH in 2005. During his studies he worked as a Kernel developer and Security auditor as well as a software developer.

With Internet-based distribution model since the foundation of the company, to date Zentyal has carried out its international expansion from its own headquarters in Zaragoza: from negotiation and signing of partnership agreements to providing of its services. In 2013 the company has started a proactive strategy towards these target countries, through commercial on-site meetings. The company plans that its partner network in Latin America will make 25% of its channel in 2013.

“We have detected large business opportunities in Mexico, Brazil and Chile, that are all growing markets with high demand for technology services and solutions. Moreover, due to the high demand for IT professionals, we have seen that solutions such as Zentyal, that help to optimize resources, are very well received“, said José Ramón Padrón, Channel Sales Director for Iberia and LatAm at Zentyal.

In the coming months the company will focus mainly on closing the first new alliances in these countries, that will join the already existing partner network in the continent, as well as managing the new business opportunities generated during the business visit. At the same time, the company will provide the new partners all the necessary support to start offering Zentyal-based solutions to their end customers.

First results

Brazil, the second largest country by sales after Spain, represents a huge potential market for Zentyal. Furthermore, over 30% of Zentyal downloads in Latin America come from this country. Until now Zentyal operated in Brazil through three partners -Leucotron, Netsol and DBLink- that were recently joined by TMBTI. The company expects to grow its partner network in the upcoming months through new agreements with some of the 16 potential partners it is currently in negotiations with.

In Mexico, the company has three Zentyal Partners: Sinc, Open Factor and Technological University of Torreón (training partner), and it continues negotiations with eight companies. The company expects to multiply by four the partner network in this country by the end of 2013.

In Chile, where the market has confirmed to be specially receptive to implement the technology in SMBs, Zentyal has signed the first partnership agreement with Swetekno and it continues negotiations with six other IT companies.
